FYI a SQL Express 32 Bit installation is a good workaround however still looking for a solution to execute either 64 bit or 32 bit on the same SQL instance.,

If you install 64 bit ACE drivers, then you should be able to read the excel using the OPENROWSET. You cannot use 32 bit ACE drivers to access excel on 64 bit SQL Server. YOu have to use 64 bit ACE...
